As 2017 comes to a close, it is only natural to reflect on the year. What were the highs? What were the lows? As a blogger that means it is time to really inspect your analytics – a not so fun and behind the scenes aspect of the business that is very important.
We want to know our growth in terms of page views, Instagram followers, engagement, and more. We want to know our most popular blog posts, least popular posts, most purchased items, and largest sources of traffic to boot.
It can be easy to get caught up in the day-to-day numbers, leaving you feeling discouraged when you have 15 people unfollow you on Instagram while you’re sick or when you work so hard on a post that you think your audience will love, but it doesn’t get the views that you thought it would. It’s important to find a balance between learning who your audience is and what they want to see versus becoming obsessed with the numbers.
Just some food for thought about the behind the scenes of blogging because I think it is a career not many people fully understand, and I didn’t either until I joined the blogging community this year.
My goals for next year are to continue to grow my blog and provide my readers with compelling content, some laughs along the way, and to discover new brands or trends that you didn’t think about before.
You can check out the corresponding blog posts for more information or to see the full looks, and you can shop these outfits right here! If I was no longer able to find the exact item I am wearing, I tried to link several alternatives so you can recreate the look yourself.
Before I leave 2017 behind, I just wanted to say…thank you for every view, every comment, every like, and every time you follow me on one of social media channels (click here for Facebook, here for Instagram, and here for Pinterest). It means the world to me, and it makes me so happy that I get to share my love of fashion with so many of you out there. Cheers and here’s to 2018!
