I do love to splurge on luxury items, especially handbags and shoes. However, I don’t believe in spending just for spending’s sake – no matter what it may seem like. I believe in spending your hard earned money on high-quality pieces that you will wear year after year and can go with a variety of everyday looks.

Sometimes, it just isn’t in the budget to afford these luxury items and if you can get the same look for less then why not try it out! Earlier this week I did splurge and buy the Gucci loafers that I have been lusting after for a year, but once I tried on the Sam Edelman version I knew I couldn’t quite justify the Gucci pair yet.

We are talking $730 vs $120 so that is a lot of money saved.

These Sam Edelman loafers are a crazy good dupe for the Gucci alternative – buttery leather, gold hardware, and a classic shape that you can’t go wrong with. For sizing purposes these loafers are TTS. I purchased mine in a 6.5 US  (my normal size) and they fit perfectly. If you are worried that loafers look like grandma shoes or are too classic for a casual everyday look then I am here to help you.

Juxtaposition is the answer, my friends.

If you ever have an outfit that is too girly then add some edgier pieces like a leather jacket or masculine shoes. If you have an outfit that is too classic or “old” looking add in some more modern and deconstructed elements. I love pairing classic pieces with distressed or raw hem denim or doing a messy tuck with your shirt. It works wonders.

I have always had good experiences with Sam Edelman shoes (remember these metallic mules I wore to death). They are always on trend, affordable, and incredibly comfortable. I know these Gucci inspired loafers will be key in my Autumn/Winter wardrobe and beyond.

What are your thoughts on designer dupes and designer inspired pieces? Would you purchase the Sam Edelman version or the Gucci? Let me know in the comments below!

Thank you so much! I don’t try to seek out designer dupes but when they find me I know it’s meant to be 🙂
