Last month I had the pleasure of partnering with The Real Real to introduce my Instagram audience to their White Glove service. I am a big believer in selling gently used clothing that you no longer wear to make room for the new that you will love.
I’ve talked about how removing those items from your closet makes getting dressed daily so much simpler. Check out this previous blog post where I talk about the ways I declutter my closet – something I do religiously.
If you aren’t familiar with The Real Real then let me introduce you to the company.
They are leaders in the luxury consignment business and every item is 100% guaranteed authentic so you never have to worry that you are spending your hard earned cash on a fake. Their website has thousands of new items every day so as someone who loves to online “window shop” the website is a candy store.
You always have the option to ship your gently used luxury items directly to their warehouse (check out a list of accepted brands) where your items with authenticated, valued and photographed for you at no extra cost.
What I love about The Real Real White Glove Service is that you can schedule an appointment online with a Luxury Consignment Manager who will come to your home and pick up these items for you.
How simple, right? The Manager I worked with will even make home visits during the weekend so those who have hectic work schedules can consign too.
It takes the guesswork out of knowing what items will be accepted, that your pre-loved belongings are in safe hands, and you can even ask what it might be valued at if you are on the fence about selling a piece. From there the process will work the same – your items will be authenticated, valued, and photographed at no extra cost to you.
You essentially sit back and watch your items sell.
I’ve sold more mid-priced point items on clothing apps before, but have to admit that taking photos, writing the product description, and answering customer questions can be time-consuming. You don’t have to worry about that when consigning with The Real Real. I have really enjoyed how simple the White Glove service has been, and when it is time for another closet clean out I will be making my next appointment.

do they charge a fee for white glove vs. just posting it yourself? I couldn’t find that in your post.

Hi Janna! Everything is free of charge. For both services, The Real Real will photograph, price, write the description, and list the items for you. It’s just nice that you know your items are going with a person and if you have items you aren’t sure will sell they can tell you 🙂
