I am back today with another affordable Fall wardrobe essential, and an outfit that you can easily recreate. Leather may be really on trend this season – think a leather skirt paired with an oversized sweater or full matrix vibes in a leather belted trench.
However, I consider a leather jacket an item that you can pull out year after year.
A quality leather jacket would make a great investment piece as it never goes out of style. I’ve never felt the need to invest in one yet as there are so many great and more affordable alternatives on the market. My previous leather jacket was from Forever 21 and lasted me a good 5 years before I had to toss it.
This beauty is from Zara’s current collection and only cost me $70! It looks and feels like real leather and the attention to detail is crazy for that price. When Zara gets it right they get it right. This just goes to show that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to look fashionable.
A faux leather jacket can easily look cheap, but there are two main things I keep an eye out for.
First, the feel of the fabric is so important. Does it feel supple? It is too thin or too shiny? Next, I check the stitching. Does it look high quality? Even on more expensive garments if the stitching is off it can make something look cheap, which we definitely don’t want. I like to think it’s all about dressing well and finding items that look expensive but aren’t.
I love that a leather jacket adds an edgy vibe to any outfit even this feminine floral dress. If you don’t know what to wear it’s the perfect jacket to throw on and you will be assured it goes with everything.
Are you a fan of leather jackets? Would you be willing to splurge on a good leather jacket or would you rather stick to a more affordable option like I have? Let me know in the comments below!
Love this look! I only wear faux leather, so I’m so happy that you talked about how to get the authentic leather look without actually having to buy real leather. This is definitely a closet staple that you should invest in. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! I generally prefer to splurge on items that I will wear season after season, but I just haven’t been able to do that for leather jackets, There are too many good options out there for better prices 🙂
I am super picky about jackets in general…I hate having my range of motion restricted. But a good, broken-in leather jacket is always a winner in my book!

I definitely agree! I was at first worried about that with this leather jacket, but now that I’ve worn it several times it’s all good 🙂
