I have a sweet tooth, which can be hard to curb at times. That’s why I have recently fallen in love with energy balls. I still get to satisfy my sweet tooth, but I don’t have to feel guilty after. If you’re thinking to yourself what are energy balls you are not alone. I didn’t know what they were until maybe 6 months ago.
Energy balls are a no-bake healthy protein and fiber packed snack that is usually incredibly easy to make. All you need are basic kitchen tools and occasionally a food processor – but this recipe doesn’t call for that.
Rather than regularly “treating myself”, I decided to save money and learn how to make energy balls on my own. This recipe only calls for 5 ingredients so whether you could enter Iron Chef or you’re a kitchen novice you can easily make these peanut butter and chocolate chip energy balls that would make a great mid-day snack or a healthy dessert.
HOW TO MAKE:
PEANUT BUTTER & CHOCOLATE CHIP ENERGY BALLS
2/3 cup peanut butter (I prefer creamy)
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 cup ground flax seeds
2 tablespoons honey (I prefer to use agave)
STEPS:
- Combine the 5 ingredients into a bowl. Stir to combine (a rubber spatula is the easiest to use)
- Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes so it is easier to roll
- Roll into bites and store in the fridge for up to one week
