There is nothing quite like getting dressed up. I love any excuse to throw on a gown or wear something a little over the top. I am a big believer in being slightly overdressed than underdressed. There is no better place to do this than a wedding. You may be wondering…What do I even wear to a Fall wedding?
It’s an odd transitional time for formalwear so getting properly dressed for these events can be hard. It’s not cold enough to bundle up in tights and a faux fur coat, but it’s also not warm enough to show up in a breezy dress.
No, worries I am here to help!
Like I said I prefer to err on the side of slightly overdressed because to me there is nothing more uncomfortable than being the most casual person in a room when everyone is clearly dressed up.
Most weddings are formal or cocktail attire, which gives you a lot of freedom. You can wear a dressy cocktail dress, midi gown (like this moody floral number I’m wearing), or an elegant jumpsuit. There is no need to go for a full-length gown or be decked out in jewels unless the wedding attire calls for black tie.
To make your outfit more Fall wedding appropriate stick with deeper hues.
Think classic black, navy, burgundy, or even jewel tones. Choose a heavier fabric such as velvet or like this jacquard that I’m wearing. The structure is not only beautiful, but it will help keep you warm when a jacket might be a bit too much.
If you get cold:
You could easily throw on a shawl or pashmina wrap, but if you’re dancing the night away you should be good.
To complete the look, you can’t forget about accessories. To really add Fall wedding vibes to my formal look, I couldn’t go without a velvet padded headband. Headbands and hair accessories are one of the biggest trends this Fall. This is something that can easily transition into formalwear.
And would you believe this headband is only $3! Talk about a steal, right?
