Silk scarves have long been my fashion secret weapon, and I can remember people thinking I was crazy for starting to collect them around age 17. I’d like to think that I’ve always had a love for the classic styles, and was just ahead of the curve as *cough cough* silk scarves are in style.

If you’re thinking silk scarves are old lady accessories I am here to change your mind.

It is probably the most effortless way to add a pop of color to a simple outfit – think basic jeans and a t-shirt or classic black dress. A silk scarf can entirely alter your look.

It is also one of the easiest ways to elevate any outfit, which you know by now that I am all about that. Say you work in a casual office, but want to look more professional simply adding a silk scarf can make you look more put together while still remaining casual enough for your workplace.

It’s one of my favorite touches to add to an interview look.

You still look professional, but it adds something different to help you stand out from the crowd and show a bit of personality. After a long day of interviews, I want them to remember the confident and capable women in the colorful scarf.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money to find a great silk scarf. I personally stick in the $50-100 range, which seems to be the typical price to find a quality scarf in a unique pattern.

For more affordable brands Kate Spade, Ted Baker, and Echo are my favorites. Most of my wardrobe is more neutral so I tend to opt for crazy patterns and color choices.

As a fellow fashionista I must admit that I do not own a silk scarf! I’m not sure why….. I guess it never comes to mind for me. I agree that they are NOT ‘old lady’ accessories. They are a great way to express yourself while adding that little something something to your aesthetic. I primarily own infinity scarves, but maybe it is time to explore new horizons.
