There is one type of dress that I just I can’t seem to get enough of this summer – that’s the smocked dress.
If it’s in a floral print or you add a puff sleeve (or both) then you’ve got the perfect on-trend dress. I mentioned earlier this year that we were going to see a resurgence of romantic and feminine styles this spring and summer after very neutral and sleek looks recently.
The smocked dress is a perfect representation of that and incredibly flattering.
It’s usually fitted on the top to show off your feminine figure but looser from the waist down so great for those extra quarantine pounds we’re still working off. I wouldn’t call summer 2020 the season of my best bikini body, but that doesn’t mean I can’t dress cute.
What I love about a smocked dress is that they’re incredibly flattering on all shapes and sizes so whether you have a small or large bust or you’re hourglass or pear-shaped this dress style will work well for you.
My summer essentials include floral print, a smock dress, and a woven tote, which I often include in one outfit.
The smocked dresses I’ve been wearing lately are actually affordable so you don’t need to spend a lot to find quality pieces. My favorites have been from H&M and the coveted LoveShackFancy x Target collection (you can still find some styles on sites like Poshmark or eBay).
My favorite way to wear a smocked dress is with a pair of colorful espadrilles or simple sandals, but you could just as easily rock this dress with a pair of block heels (Stuart Weitzman Nearly Nude are my favorite and worth every penny).
I’ll include several smocked dresses for you to shop below at all price points so if you’re interested you can add one to your summer or transitional fall wardrobe! I can early see how easily this dress style will carry into early fall.

thank you so much! So happy you like them 🙂
I’m totally cool with smocking. I’ll wear it on everything, including dresses. I have so much floral in my closet that it can be considered a neutral haha
