Understated, elegant classics or “quiet luxury” are the trend to wear this fall and this girl couldn’t be happier. The easiest way to lean into this look is with ladylike cardigans. Pair jeans and a t-shirt or ribbed tank (like I did in the look above) with a ladylike cardigan and you instantly elevate a casual look. This is the type of look you could wear to an office, running errands or even dinner — and that’s what I love most about this trend.

As much as I think these ladylike cardigans are a classics, you don’t need to spend a lot this season and can easily find high-quality options that will last year after year for under $200.

I say under $200 because there are some great options from J.Crew that sit around the $180 mark that can act as jacket for the transitional weather or if you love somewhere that’s pretty mild most of the year. This season some of my favorite places to find quality, but affordable cardigans are J.Crew, Goelia1995, and Boden (a favorite brand of the Princess of Wales).

I plan to do a blog post with a cardigan from Goelia1995 because I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised by the quality. On first glance, it made me nervous as I’m never swayed by Instagram ads from Chinese retailers. The quality often just isn’t there, but when I started to see some fashion bloggers I respect raving about their pieces I knew I had to give them a try.

Word of advice if you purchase a ladylike cardigan from Goelia1995: Go up two sizes from your normal to match western sizes.

If you’re wanting to style one of these cardigans this fall opt for stripes, neutral colors or delicate details like pearls, braids or nautical buttons. Even better if paired with classic accessories like a top handle bag with no logos or a padded headband. The last time I fully embraced the headband as a part of my daily look was back in my Gossip Girl days.

Except now rather than opting for Blair inspired looks, I’m inspired by the ever chic Lily van der Woodsen.
