Dallas fashion blogger shares a recent luxury handbag purchase, true crime podcasts, healthy dinner, and more

OUTFIT DETAILS: SAGE DRESS (SIMILAR) | CASTAÑER WEDGES | STRAW BAG (SIMILAR)

May is almost ending and my favorite month of the year is about to begin. I may be a bit biased since June is my birthday but as a summer lover I always find June to be a happy time for me. I love sunny days and everything that comes along with it. If you aren’t familiar with my Friday Favorites blog series, it’s where I recap in one place what I have been enjoying lately – books, shows, beauty, fashion trends, food and more.

My obsession with sage continues as you can see in this cotton dress from Zara that I have been living in! If you saw me in real life it would be embarrassing how times I wear it. I love finding comfortable dresses that you can just throw on to run errands or grab a coffee, but instantly look chic. It’s been my little secret for years!

For some reason, when the weather warms up I have this craving for fish. From grilling fish with lemon and olive oil to making poke bowls I can’t seem to get enough. If you’re looking for a healthy dinner you can make in under 20 minutes keep reading to the end of the blog post.

Now let’s get into this edition of my Friday Favorites blog post series…

FRIDAY FAVORITES #18: WHAT HAVE I BEEN LOVING LATELY?

RECENT READS

I just finished The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell (I’ve read many of her books in the past). The first half of the book was slow and confusing as it’s told from the perspective of 3 people. But once you get into the rhythm of how the story is told it picks up in the second half ending with shocking details.

The story is about a girl who learns on her 25th birthday that her birth parents left her a beautiful home in the exclusive Chelsea neighborhood in London. As she uncovers more about her family she learns of the horrors that happened in the house and how she seemed to be the only surviving member of her family.

NEW PODCAST

For all of my true crime lovers I have fallen in love with the podcast, Anatomy of Murder. The hosts are a former prosecutor and a former homicide detective, which gives the show a different spin. If are interested in learning about these horrific stories from a legal and law enforcement perspectives then this is the podcast for you. It has more of a logical spin, which I find fascinating.

EATING AL FRESCO

Now that warmer days are here to stay, I felt like it was time to dress up my balcony. One of my favorite activities in spring and summer is to eat and drink outside whether it’s just enjoying a coffee or having an easy dinner. I found this foldable bistro table and chair set, which is perfect for any small space.

It comes in multiple colors, but I went for the mint. You can find it on Amazon for just over $100!

EARLY BIRTHDAY GIFT

While my birthday may not technically be until the end of June, I couldn’t help myself and decided to buy myself a birthday gift early. Each year I like to treat myself and since I’ve been working like crazy lately, I felt like now was the best time. So what did I get? A handbag, of course!

I have long loved the designs of Loewe – so chic and simplistic. I purchased the Loewe square raffia tote because I wear raffia and straw nonstop spring and summer. The tote style felt safer than the basket bag and I feel like this would be easier to transition to nighttime.

EASY HEALTHY DINNER

Since I’ve been incredibly busy with work lately, I’ve had to make do with simple dinners that take 20-30 minutes to make. One of my go-to healthy dinners that takes under 20 minutes to prepare is a poke bowl. If you’ve never made one before then it may sound scary, but since the rice is the only thing that needs to be cooked it’s pretty simple.

While the rice is cooking I chop the rest of the ingredients and voilà! If you’d like to see a blog post how I create my poke bowls let me know in the comment section below!
