I’ve always been partial to pink, especially in the warmer months. There is something so feminine and cheerful about styling the color pink. After a neutral color palette the last few years, hot pink is in full swing for a bright summer wardrobe. Want to look chic in pink this summer without feeling like a kid or that you fell into a Crayola box? Here’s how I would do it.
Start by deciding what will be the focal point of the outfit. Is it a hot pink blazer or a pair of Fuschia sandals? Let that one item shine and keep the rest of the look more muted. When opting for brighter colors, I find that sticking with well-tailored or classic items can elevate the look and help you look chic in pink.
If you want to go for a bright accessory keep the rest of the look in a more neutral color palette—like black, white, nude, grey, or navy. But don’t be afraid to experiment with pastels as neutrals as well. Pastels work well at taming down a bright hue, but also add a bit more interest than opting for the standard neutrals (not there is anything wrong with them).
Imagine a handbag in the softest shade of yellow or lilac with a hot pink sundress. Just me? Don’t be afraid to have fun with color this summer and step outside of your comfort zone. I think we could all use a bit more of a cheerful wardrobe after the last few years.
