If you told my middle school/early high school self that I would be rocking a Dior saddle bag I would have thought I was the coolest chick ever. Like in 13 going on 30 when she’s impressed by her older self and can’t believe how everything she saw in magazines her 30-year-old self now owns.
As a handbag lover my entire life and a luxury handbag collector for the last decade I expect a lot from my bags and wanted to share my thoughts with you. All of my thoughts are from wearing this bag nonstop (literally nonstop) over the last month. Is it worth the retail price? Would I wear it again? Does it work as an everyday bag?

HANDBAG REVIEW: DIOR SADDLE BAG
PRICE
The Dior saddle bag (both in oblique and leather) comes to around $4,200 USD. I personally borrowed this bag with my Vivrelle membership so you could say it cost me $99 USD to use for the month.

When it comes to luxury brands Dior is expensive. I personally wouldn’t spend the retail price on the saddle bag as $4000+ seems a little steep for a trendier bag—no matter how much I love it. Instead, I would purchase this bag on the preloved market as you can find it in excellent condition for around $1000 less than retail. You can find it for even less if you don’t mind a few scratches on the hardware and a few other signs of wear.
HANDBAG SIZE
The dimensions of the Dior saddle bag are: 25.5 x 20 x 6.5 cm / 10 x 8 x 3 inches.
I thought the characteristic kidney shape would create a lot of wasted space and render the bag pretty unusable. But surprisingly I can fit all of my everyday essentials. If you are the type of girl who loves to throw things into your bag without a second thought then the Dior saddle bag isn’t for you.
You do need to be somewhat mindful of what you carry so if you are more minimalist with your handbag essentials then it will work well for you.
What I fit inside the Dior saddle bag:

- Lip gloss
- Lipstick
- Cardholder
- iPhone 13 Pro max
- Car keys
- House keys
- Hand sanitizer
- Tampon
- AirPods
I don’t like to put my sunglasses in the bag because it would be difficult to fit a cloth case in there with my iPhone, and I don’t want to risk pushing it.
QUALITY
The bag comes with a velcro closure, which worried me at first. I haven’t had any instances of the bag coming open or my items falling out. Still, I’d prefer a snap or magnetic closure since it is $4000+ retail. After wearing the bag every single day for a month in all sorts of situations—from dinners to running errands—I can say it holds up well.
I didn’t feel like I had to baby the bag and the quality of the material and hardware feels luxe. The leather shoulder strap fits comfortably on my shoulder, which is a big one for me. As someone with small shoulders, bags often fall off but the Dior saddle bag stayed on so points from me.
VERSATILITY
This is where the bag surprised me the most. When I say I used the bag every day for the last month—I mean I used the bag every day. The trendy shape and oblique pattern were surprisingly easy to style and the blue jean color acted as a neutral. I felt like whatever I wore the saddle bag with gave the outfit this “cool girl” look.
I wore it with everything from workout clothes for a lazy Saturday walk to a more formal night out. If I were to purchase the bag I would opt for it in black-grained leather as I think that’s more sustainable long-term and I’m generally not into obvious logos.
All in all the saddle bag surprised me with its versatility and how I can fit my everyday essentials into the bag.
