I don’t know about you, but I’m always interested to see what the Pantone color of the year will be. Well, Pantone recently released their 2024 color of the year — and it’s Peach Fuzz.
It is described as a soft, pinkish-orange hue meant to “be radiant with warmth and modern elegance.” So what does that actually mean for you? It shows what color will reign supreme in our buying decisions from fashion, beauty, home decor, and more in the coming year. It illustrates the mood we all want from 2024, which is comfort, coziness, and tenderness.
Last year’s color was a bold Viva Magenta and that was the hottest hue out there. If you want to add a little coziness and femininity to your looks but are unsure of how to style this peachy hue then keep reading.
1 – Start with accessories or makeup
If you find yourself at a crossroads on how to embrace Peach Fuzz, start with accessories and makeup. It’s the easiest way to introduce the color without committing to a full wardrobe overhaul.
For makeup, a full face of warm peach tones is the way to go — from a pop of peachy blush to glossy coral lips. I’m a big fan of cream blushes, not only because I just love the dewy look, but it also works as an eyeshadow and base for your lips. It’s one easy way to make sure the tones are complimentary.
For Spring 2024, big bags are coming back. Think bucket bags, carry-all totes, and especially anything woven. A peachy or pastel coral tote that can take you from the beach to running errands is ideal.
2 – Opt for a tone-on-tone look
Crafting a tone-on-tone look with similar shades elevates your style to a new level. When in doubt go tonal. The best way to keep a tone-on-tone outfit feeling chic rather than a blob of color is to start with one dominant hue and then add varying hues with the same undertones. Also, introducing texture is a great way to add interest to the look.
In this case think peach, pastel apricot, warm ballet pink, pastel coral, dusty pinks, and more. 1960s mini’s and 1990s interpretation of that will continue to be in for Spring 2024.
A matching set — whether in tweed or linen — paired with a kitten heel will be a great look for spring 2024.
3 – Pair with neutrals
One of the easiest colors to pair any hue with is neutrals. I mean they’re neutral for a reason. If you’re worried about Peach Fuzz feeling too trendy then opting for a look with neutrals is your way to go. Pair a peach-toned blouse with a pristine white Bermuda shorts or break up a tonal look with bright white accessories.
Neutrals act as the canvas, allowing “peach fuzz” to take center stage. Other than just white, Peach Fuzz would also look great with these neutrals — black, chocolate brown, warm camel, off-white, warm taupes, and navy.
4- Go soft with pastels
For a dreamy, feminine look you can’t go wrong with pastels and luckily, they will always be in for spring. Opt for delicate shades like lavender, mint, baby blue, butter yellow, and soft ballet pink. Butter yellow was a huge color on the runway for spring 2024.
Pair a pastel yellow dress (similar to the infamous How to Lose a Guy in 10 Day dress) with peachy accessories for a mellow dose of sunshine. Or go with a lavender knit and Peach Fuzz denim.
5 – Have fun with metallics
Infuse a touch of glamour into your spring and summer wardrobe with metallics (yes, they are still going to be big as we go into the next season). As the temps begin to warm up you can add gold back into your wardrobe after a year of silver being THE metallic. I’ve seen both silver and gold on the runway and have to say I’m pretty excited. As much as silver was so fun, I’ve always been a gold girl.
6 – Think earth tones
Another timeless classic is earth tones. To make sure these grounding hues go well with soft peach opt for a warmer pallet like muted greens, soft terracottas, or earthy browns. Styling olive green cargo pants, a white t-shirt, and a peach blazer would be an easy everyday spring look to replicate. Bonus points if you add textures like denim, raffia, or crochet.
