Button-down? Button up? What is it really called? Either way, you know exactly what I’m talking about. That wardrobe staple everyone should own – man or woman. People often talk about the classic and crisp white button down, but I’m partial to a good black button down. It’s really an addiction.
A black button down is incredibly chic and doesn’t get enough love, in my opinion.
I love that I don’t have to worry about the bra I choose when wearing black and they are a bit easier to transition from day to night as they have a “sexier” edge to them.
In this how to style series (see here for my previous how to style Golden Goose Sneakers post), I want to help my readers get the most wear out of what they own or inspire you to look at a wardrobe staple in another way.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I never thought sneakers would be so versatile and as a self-proclaimed girly girl that I would get so much use out of them. That’s what I hope to help you with.
I am here to show you just how easy it is to style a black button down and that it deserves the same love that the white button down gets. These outfits work whether you own a silk button down or a simple cotton one.
If you’re looking for a great silk button down at a reasonable price…well, reasonable for silk…Everlane’s silk blouse is only $110. I personally own it and wear it to death.

I agree 100% that black button-downs don’t get enough love. I’m addicted to round handbags, as per your date night look. There is an air about them that makes them *instantly* stylish and I can’t help but buy them in every color. Thanks for the fashion inspo as always!
