Goodbye Shacket, Hello Long Wool Cardigan: Fall Styling Tips

Everyone is talking about the shacket this season – a light jacket resembling a shirt. But it never quite caught my interest. I believe being casual and comfortable doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice on fashion or styling. So, say hello to the long wool cardigan!

It’s cozy, chic, and something that won’t go out of style at this end of the season. 

I’m not interested in fleeting trends or buying pieces that scream “summer of 2020” (I’m looking at you tie-dye). Don’t get me wrong, I love dabbling in trends but I’m selective because I only want to purchase something I can wear time and time again. If not, that’s what my beloved Rent the Runway membership is for.

If you consider yourself a more classic dresser, want something that can transition from day-to-night or are looking for an alternative to the shacket then I think you’ll love styling the long wool cardigan. It’s also great for those days where you don’t quite need a coat!

I picked up this grey wool cardigan in the H&M Cyber Monday sale for $79 (currently $99 without the sale price), and knew I would find endless ways to style it immediatley.

It’s wool and alpaca, which goes to show you can find quality pieces at all price points if you’re willing to search.

I styled this long wool cardigan with my favorite skinny jeans, a pair of classic toe cap slingbacks (affordable option by Sam Edelman) and new cognac handbag.  This is the kind of look that could easily be worn to go have brunch or dinner al fresco with your husband.

If you’re looking to pair this cardigan down try a pair of white sneakers – because who isn’t in love with sneakers right now – and a go-with-everthing leather tote. The possibilities are truly endless with a long cardigan, which is exactly what I’m looking for!
