So, I know I have talked a lot about Rent the Runway on here, but I don’t think I have actually spoken about how to make the most of it or tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. After having my Unlimited membership since March, I’ve learned a lot to help you be a Rent the Runway expert.

Whether you only rent for special events or actually have the Rent the Runway Unlimited membership these tips can still easily work for you. I started using Rent the Runway my Senior year of college for date parties (I won’t say how many years ago that was), and this year finally decided to give the Unlimited membership a try.

If you want to do your first rental click here to get $30 off!

Now, I have to add it to the list of things I can’t live without. If you want to learn more about Rent the Runway, here are my tips and tricks.

MY RENT THE RUNWAY UNLIMITED TIPS

Heart Your Favorite Items

I like to periodically browse the Rent the Runway app throughout the week. Styles are added constantly and I heart my favorites so when it comes time to order I already have a list of items I want to rent.

When you heart items it goes into an “All Hearts” list that makes it really easy to shop. There are a lot of curated lists on the homepage of the app so don’t be afraid to browse a list even if it sounds like it’s not quite your style.

Don’t forget to heart items you might not normally go for. You could be pleasantly surprised or discover a new brand.

Lists Will Be Your Best Friend

If you want to be really efficient and organized (where are all of my Type A girls at?), you can create lists in the heart tab of the Rent the Runway app. I create lists for photoshoots and special events mostly. But you could easily create lists dedicated to coats, accessories, or weekend wear so when the time comes to shop it will take you no time at all to find what you need.

Also, if I have an event in the future, I create a list and slowly add pieces whenever I’m on the app. That way I don’t feel stressed out looking for the perfect dress or bag last minute.

Check Back Throughout the Week

New styles are added to the app throughout the week so if you want to make sure you don’t miss new in items be sure to check a few times a week. There is a new arrivals section on the app, but I also love “Your Quick Picks” which is a section curated just for you based off items you heart and rent.

It’s like window shopping for me so checking the app is fun. It gives me inspiration for new looks I want to shoot for the blog.

Order Before 12 pm EST

If you want to receive your items really quickly, I recommend ordering BEFORE 12 pm EST (as Rent the Runway is based in NY). If you do that your items will ship the same day so the 2-day shipping that comes with the membership goes down to one. I’ve had items arrive at my door the next day!

Just FYI – Items are not shipped during the weekend so if you have a weekend event coming up make sure you have your item on Thursday or Friday at the latest.

Read Reviews

It is so important to read reviews on Rent the Runway. I’ve never seen such helpful reviews and photos like on this app. It makes renting incredibly helpful as you can hear from actual people who rented the dress, see how it fit them, and any other important information such as what kind of bra they wore or if a dress was hard to move in.

The reviews also include the height, weight, bust size, size ordered, and more for each woman so you can see what size you should get or what someone around your size thought.

When you rent the app also has a section where it tells you based on the reviews, what size they recommend for you. I can’t stress this part enough – read the reviews and look at the photos before renting!
