Updated Makeup Routine: Clean Beauty & Natural Looking Makeup

Dallas blogger shares her updated makeup routine for glowy and natural looking makeup

Makeup Details Listed Below

I don’t wear makeup everyday, but when I do I go back to the same makeup routine. As much as I love testing out new makeup I’ve found what works best for me and what makes me feel most confident. I prefer a glowy, natural-looking makeup routine or a “no-makeup makeup look” as the beauty world calls it.

As someone with dry skin, I use mostly cream and liquid products. Not only does this help add that extra hydration but it’s much easier to build up for a more natural look. I thought I would share the products I use whenever I do my makeup routine. Many of which I’ve used for years so these are truly tried and tested products.

My biggest tips to creating a natural makeup look are:

Properly prepping the skin – A solid skincare routine where you take the time to cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate will do wonders for your skin. Having a great base to put makeup on always ensures better makeup application. Click here to check out my updated skincare routine filled with lots of clean beauty products!

Blending – Taking the time to blend each layer not only helps your makeup to last longer but will make it look like your skin but better. I love to use a combination of an Artis brush, a BeautyBlender sponge, and my fingers. You’d be surprised at how useful your fingers can be when applying makeup as the heat from our fingers makes it a great natural blending tool.

My Makeup Routine: Glowy, Natural Makeup

(In order of use)

Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Primer

I prefer a silicon-free primer because I like to feel like my primer is adding an additional moisturizing layer so my makeup looks incredibly natural. I’ve been using this one for over a year and love it!

By Terry Brightening CC Serum

By Terry is a makeup brand that focuses on adding skincare elements into its products for that multi-tasking approach. I use the Brightening CC Serum in sunny flash underneath my foundation for a bit of color so I don’t have to wear as much foundation. It’s about creating more “natural layers” with this look.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

NARS has been one of my favorite makeup brands for years; especially when it comes to foundation.  NARS sheer glow is a cult classic for the glowy makeup look and is incredibly buildable. I always look for a satin/slightly glowy foundation that is buildable as I find it creates that your skin but better look.

By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Concealer

This is a recent addition to my makeup routine, but I can never be without it now. My undereye area tends to run a bit dry so having a hydrating concealer that doesn’t crease is a perfect product for me. This concealer creates such a natural finish but still provides coverage so I even use it on blemishes.

TULA Rose Glow Eye Balm

I this use every single day – whether I’m wearing makeup or not. It’s considered more of a skincare product, but since it has a brightening effect I like to use it on top of my under-eye concealer for an added bright-eyed look. Since it’s technically skincare it also has moisturizing properties – perfection!

Great Lash Clear Mascara

Great Lash has been a cult classic for decades and was often the first mascara many of us used. While this is marketed as a mascara I actually use it to groom my eyebrows. I realized years ago that expensive eyebrow gels were just clear mascara and have never looked back. This is a great inexpensive option to tame those brows.

NUDESTIX Nudies Matte Blush & Bronze

Cream blush is where it’s at – trust me! This long-lasting blush provides the most natural flush and is buildable depending on your preference. I use the color Naughty n’ Spice, which is a dusty rose. The product does come with its own brush, but I prefer to use my BeautyBlender.

MERIT Day Glow Highlighting Balm

MERIT  is a clean and minimalist beauty brand that launched earlier this year. I was lucky enough to collaborate with the brand, but have continued to use their products on the regular. This highlighting balm provides a beautiful glow that makes it look like you are glowing from within. I use this on my cheekbones, nose, inner corner, and underneath my brow bone.

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerize Cream Eyeshadow

I picked this product up in the Sephora Spring sale and couldn’t be happier. I haven’t used cream eyeshadows in years but on my quest t transition to cream and liquid products, I knew I had to try it. Because of this product, it now takes me less than 1 minute to do my eye makeup. I swipe it all of my lids and use a slightly deeper shade in the crease – done!

Dior BACKSTAGE Eyeshadow Palette

Before trying out the Charlotte Tilbury cream eyeshadow I used this palette exclusively. I even used this palette for my eye makeup on my wedding day. I use the Amber palette and love the gold and copper shades all over the lid and in the crease.

NARS Powder Bronzer

I’ve used this product since college and can’t seem to find anything else I love as much since it’s very finely milled. I use the color Casino, but Laguna is another popular shade.

Mascara

There isn’t one particular mascara I like to use. This is the product I play around with the most. I’m currently using the Lancome Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara, but have long loved the CoverGirl Lash Blast

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

I’ve used this product for over a decade because it truly is the best! If you want to make sure your makeup lasts all day and doesn’t transfer on clothes then a makeup setting spray is a must in your makeup routine.

Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Mist

To keep that dewy, natural makeup look I like to lightly mist my face as a finishing touch. I feel like it brings life back to my makeup and a facial mist acts as a great way to re-hydrate your face throughout the day. I love the Herbivore facial mist since it’s a delicate mist so doesn’t disturb my makeup.

LANEIGE Lip Glowy Balm

Surprisingly I don’t wear lipstick often and will usually go for a tinted lipgloss. Laneige makes my favorite lip balms, which I have scattered all around my house and in EVERY handbag. I can’t be without them and am even using one as I write this. My favorite ones are the berry and peach flavors.

Makeup Tools:

Artis Oval 7 Brush

While this may be a pricey tool I used my Artis brush for 2 years and still haven’t needed to replace it. Artis brushes are designed for seamless blending and the oval shapes make it incredibly easy to blend all angles of the face. I’d love to one day get the entire line. these really are a gamer changer in makeup application.

BeautyBlender Sponge

I think at this point 99% of women use some form of a BeautyBlender sponge in their routine. It’s like those traditional sponges we used years ago but on steroids. It creates a beautiful airbrushed effect on the skin and the best part is that your makeup doesn’t sink into the sponge. Just make sure to use a damp sponge for the best results.

I love the natural makeup or no makeup makeup. It is ideal for a normal working day.
