Have you been guilty of getting caught up in promo codes and Black Friday sales? Have you bought something you wouldn’t normally purchase just because it was on sale? I know I have! Let my past mistakes help you from making the same. In the last few years, I’ve been diligent with creating a method during these crazy sale times to ensure I stay on track – buying only what I need. Because in the end, we don’t actually need any of it.

While I love talking about fashion, beauty, and luxury purchases I never want to make anyone feel they HAVE to buy something, but rather curate a collection of things they love that will stand the test of time. Whether it’s $30 or $3000 I want each of you to walk away from my recommendations feeling satisfied. I put the same amount of effort into thinking about purchases regardless of their price point so hopefully, this can help you find items you love.

If you plan on shopping the Black Friday sales use my tried and true method to make sure you don’t suffer from buyer’s remorse.

HOW NOT TO OVERSPEND DURING BLACK FRIDAY SALES

MAKE A LIST

Go through your wardrobe, beauty cabinet, and home to think about what key items you are missing or need to be replaced soon. That winter coat you’ve been wearing the last few years, is it on its last leg? Are you about to run out of your favorite cleanser? Make a running list on your phone (or pen and paper, if you prefer) so when you are on the hunt during sales you can refer back to your list. Don’t deviate from your list!

This is also a great time to recognize the items you are missing. For me, when I’m getting dressed I keep wanting to reach for oversized basic t-shirts that can pair nicely whether I want to look casual or dress up, but I don’t seem to have many. This will definitely be on my list for Black Friday sales.

THINK ABOUT YOUR MOST-LOVED ITEMS

I’m a big advocate of having multiples of items I love. If I love it then why not have more?! Think back through the items you use often whether it’s beauty or home-based. Or even think through the items that you love to wear and make you feel your best. It’s likely purchasing these items will go to good use because you already know they work for your lifestyle.

SIGN UP FOR NEWSLETTERS

I know this is completely counterintuitive to most advice you would hear about saving money, but hear me out. During Black Friday sales some of the first to find out about sales or receive special promo codes are those on newsletter lists. That’s why I recommend signing up for newsletters for your favorite retailers to make sure you find out about those coveted sales first!

DOWNLOAD THE KARMA PLUGIN

If you are someone who knows EXACTLY what they want then this is the plugin for you. If you’re more of a browser this browser plugin may not be as useful. When you’re online shopping you can save items to the Karma browser plugin and be notified when the price changes via email or text. It also lets you know when items you’ve saved previously are low in stock. So, if there are items you have your eye on, I would start saving now so you can be notified in case they go on sale during Black Friday.
