When I started envisioning my fall wardrobe a few months ago I knew riding boots were going to be at the top of my list. I haven’t thought about riding boots in years as they became so overdone, thanks to Pinterest. The riding boots for fall 2021 are an updated take on those boots. Think flat, leather boots, with zero embellishments or zippers. Simply pull them on and look like you’re going to ride a horse on your country estate.
One of my favorite ways to style fall boots is with skirts and dresses. We often think boots can only be styled with jeans or leggings but switch it up this season and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Plus, it’s a great way to start transiting into fall fashion if you live somewhere where the weather isn’t quite matching your fall mood. Mini skirts and dresses are making a resurgence this season so pair your leather riding boots with mini floral dress to be on trend for fall 2021.
4 BOOT TRENDS TO WEAR THIS SEASON
RIDING BOOTS
This was the boot trend I was most excited for this season! These are not the typical fall riding boots from 2013 that keep getting re-pinned on Pinterest over the years. Think sleek leather boots with no embellishments as if you just got off riding a horse. These boots are paired with classic English country attire from quilted jackets to plaid blazers.
This boot trend is also fun to mix with mini floral dresses that you’ll be seeing everywhere this fall.
COWBOY BOOTS
I fell in love with western style boots last fall and wore them nonstop. See how I styled suede cowboy boots with dresses for an unexpected chic but comfortable look. You’ll see this boot trend in suede or leather with western details. To make sure the trend doesn’t lean too country pair with 1970’s inspired outfits that are always on trend come fall time – think a suede skirt, boho floral blouse, and shearling!

STATEMENT KNEE HIGH BOOTS
If you are really fashion forward then this is the boot trend you will be rocking this fall. To be honest, the more outrageous the better when it comes to this style. Opt for animal prints in snakeskin or zebra or go full out in metallics for a futuristic inspired look. To keep this trend wearable keep the rest of your look simple and neutral with clean lines.
CHUNKY SOLE BOOTS
This is a great transitional style and has already been popping up on Instagram. These are a more fashionable version of your typical rain boots. If you opt for the rubber style then these will be incredibly versatile throughout the season come rain or shine. My favorite way I’ve seen this boot trend styled is with a mini skirt and trench or collegiate style sweatshirt. It’s an easy way to add some edge to any outfit – especially when paired with more classic pieces.
