POST DETAILS: (TOP ROW – L TO R) WRAP SANDALS | STUDDED FLATS | FLIP FLOPS
(BOTTOM ROW – L TO R) HERMES ORAN | ADIDAS GAZELLE | BIRKENSTOCK SLIDE
Comes summertime it’s all about ease in terms of dressing — with the Texas heat and sunny days the simpler, the better. I wanted to share the 6 shoes I’ve been living in so far and I just realized that all of these are flats, which wasn’t intentional.
Many of these summer shoes can work from day to night, which I look for (see ease of dressing philosophy above). Let’s get into why I love each of these shoes and the sizing information.
MARGAUX WRAP SANDALS
I’ve always loved a wrap sandal, truly a classic style that will stand the test of time. These Margaux sandals are well-made for the price (currently $225) but comparable in quality to many luxury sandals I own. The leather is smooth, the stitching doesn’t rub against your skin, and the soles are high quality. I plan on purchasing another color, thinking the gold, an underrated neutral in my opinion.
In terms of sizing: I’m typically a 6.5-7 US/37 EU with narrow feet.
I went with my EU size and purchased a 37/7 US medium and they fit perfectly. They tend to run on the narrow side so I think that’s why the 7 US works so well. They have both wide and narrow options — and unless you have extremely narrow feet I think you can stick with the medium.
STUDDED FLATS
Yes, I am one of those who loved the Alaïa studded flats. As “out there” as they are I think they add a touch of whimsey to any outfit. But there is no denying that they are a trend shoes so I didn’t want to spend $1,300 for the real thing. Instead, I went with Tony Bianco and found these dupes for around $180. They look identical and are real leather.
I went down to a US 6 (recommended by the site) and felt like I would have been in between a 6 and 6.5 as my toe was just a touch too close to the tip. Since they are real leather I bought a shoe stretcher and it worked to give me just that little bit extra. I left the shoe trees in for 24 hours and that was all I needed.
I purchased the shoe stretcher kit from Amazon for under $20.
HAVAIANAS FLIP FLOPS
I’ve been wearing Havaianas on and off since high school because nothing quite compares. Personally, I’m not one to spend a lot on flip-flops when you have options like Havaianas out there — they’re comfortable, sleek, and come in multiple colors. In this brand, I always opt for the slim version so they are extra minimalist, which to me is the point of wearing these.
I go for my true EU sizing in these.
HERMES ORAN SANDALS
The ultimate sandal and if you’re questioning whether or not they are worth the splurge, the answer is “yes.” Once you break these sandals in they are comfortable, a classic style, can be worn with pretty anything short of a ballgown, and come in endless colors and textures. I’ve had my Hermes Oran sandals since 2016 and they are still in amazing condition.

Hermes shoes run true to size for me — EU 37 — but if you have wider feet then I would go up half a size. The Oran is a style that works best for narrow or medium feet and I find that the Chypre works better for wider feet.
ADIDAS GAZELLE
I never thought there would be a day (at least not anytime soon) when I would wear another sneaker brand than Golden Goose. But I caved into the hype and got the Adidas Gazelle — and I get it. They add an instant “cool” look to any outfit and are pretty affordable.
I still think the Golden Goose gives a more polished look and is easier to dress up and down whereas the Adidas is very casual and sporty. I would never wear these to dinner, even a casual dinner, like I would with the Golden Goose sneakers.
Adidas runs large so I went down a half size to a US 6. It was recommended to me on the site and I was a bit nervous, but they were correct about sizing down.
BIRKENSTOCK SLIDE
These slides are something I reintroduced into my wardrobe this summer as I used to also wear these in high school. Fashion truly runs full circle. Similar to the Adidas shoes and Havaianas flip flops, these give an effortless cool look to any outfit. Birkenstocks are known to mold your feet so they can be cute and comfortable. Now these I would wear to a casual dinner, especially if in a beachy/resort town.
I went for my true EU size, 37.
