Weekend Notes: Favorite Fall Trend, New Podcast & A Beauty Essential

Dallas fashion blogger shares her weekend notes; items she has been loving lately

Hello October – I can’t believe it’s already Fall! This year is truly flying by. I’ve done so much in 2019 that I sometimes forget it’s acceptable to not move at the speed of light. I made the decision to move back home to Texas, got engaged, actually made the move, found a new job, got married, and now I am working on getting my husband here.

Long-distance, especially once you’re married, isn’t easy. I’m trying to fill my time with friends, work, and discovering new favorites. I have a new favorite podcast, I’ve rediscovered audiobooks, and much more. If you want to learn about some of my recent favorites continue reading below!

WEEKEND NOTES – WHAT I’VE BEEN LOVING

Confronting O.J. Simpson Podcast

The Confronting O. J. Simpon podcast is the newest addition to my podcast list, and I have to say it is one of the most shocking. We all remember this infamous case but there is so much exposed in this podcast that I didn’t realize.

Ron Goldman’s sister, Kim, is the host so you get to hear her perspective as she interviews people who played a key part in the case and trial from journalists, the prosecution lawyers, jurors, and more. If it was a book I would say I couldn’t put it down.

Audible Audiobooks

I raved about audible in the past, and it is the main reason I fell in love with audiobooks. For the last few months, I forgot about audiobooks but was craving to find a new book I could dig into. I’ve started back up this month, and wonder why I ever stopped listening to them.

I’m currently reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. If you want to see some of my favorite books you can check out this previous blog post.

Headbands

The headband craze doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon, and I can’t get enough. Headbands were in last Fall, but this year it is about dramatic headbands and textured headbands. Think velvet, braided, or embellished. I recently purchased this velvet headband and this braided headband from BaubleBar.

Hobo Style Bags

The last time I carried a hobo bag was probably circa 2008 when I idolized the style of Lindsay Lohan’s clubbing days and Nicole Richie’s bags that were larger than she was. Guess what? Hobo bags are back in and I’ve been wearing them regularly.

I recently purchased this MCM hobo bag for a great deal as my work bag. I wanted something that was mature, casual enough to go with most looks and with minimal branding. If there is one bag you are going to buy yourself this season I would recommend a hobo bag.

Vegetable Tagine

As someone has grown up with Mediterranean flavors (my father is Italian in case you didn’t know), I have a soft spot for all Mediterranean cuisine whether it’s Greek, Moroccan or of course Italian. My mom recently discovered this vegetable tagine recipe, and it was so flavorful. It will make the perfect stew this Fall and is healthier than a typical lamb tagine.

GloPro

For about a month I stopped using my GloPro, and I could see a difference in my skin. While using the GloPro my skin feels brighter and there is an improvement in the overall texture of my skin. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of the GloPro, it’s an at-home microneedling tool that pokes tiny holes into your skin. Trust me, it isn’t scary!

It makes your skin think it needs to go into repair mode so it produces more collagen and it helps your skincare products sink into your skin rather than sitting on the surface. I wrote a blog post more about this and my favorite products from BeautyBio.

I agree with the vegetable tagine. There is a wonderful restaurant that has it here and it is just delightful.
