Each year I write about the newest “it” bag for spring and summer, and it’s usually a woven bag. I’m starting to realize that we can now classify a woven bag as a classic and something that won’t go out of style. Is this type of bag seasonal? Absolutely, yes. But it truly makes the perfect addition to your spring and summer wardrobe and could be the only bag you buy all season.
The bag that started it all for me was the Loewe Raffia Tote.
While this tote is pricer for just a woven bag, as a designer handbag it’s actually quite affordable starting at $450 for the smallest size. It’s surprisingly the type of bag you could work into your transitional wardrobe for fall to get the most use out of it. I love finding new and unexpected ways to pair things together.
To style a woven bag in the early Fall just pair your bag with cropped or distressed jeans, a chic blazer, and leather slides. UK Blogger Emma Hill truly does the best at showing how versatile these bags can be.
So, what makes a woven bag perfect for spring and summer?
It gives an effortless and natural vibe to any outfit that is synonymous with French girl chic many of us want to achieve. It gives the impression that you didn’t try too hard and works from running to the marché (market) in the morning to drinks with friends in the late afternoon.
To make any outfit visually appealing you need texture.
A few of my favorite ways you can style this type of bag are:
– White cotton dress and simple brown sandals
– Linen midi skirt and a basic muscle tank
– Dress down a silk cami when paired with distressed jeans and espadrilles
If you want to look instantly chic this spring and summer be sure to add a woven bag to your collection. I’ve included all price points in the collage above so no matter your budget you don’t miss out on this classic.
Woven bags are my favorite! I like the tip for how to transition into the fall with one. That is especially helpful here in California where the weather stays quite warm in the fall. Thanks 😊

No problem Robyn! So happy you found this post helpful 🙂
That pink bag with the teal chain strap just screams mermaid to me, and I love it! I’ve always been a proponent of working textures into an outfit, so I’m glad to hear that is a real thing when it comes to adding interest.
