Friday Favorites #13: Shopping the #NSale, Nostalgic 90’s Music & More

Dallas fashion blogger shares Friday Favorites - new Netflix shows, recent books, beauty favorites, and more

Hello August! I can’t even believe I’m saying that. I used to do these Friday Favorites blog posts much more often, but for some reason stopped. I wish I could tell you why because I think these types of blog posts are an easily digestible way to know what I’ve been loving – from new Netflix shows, favorite beauty products, to recent books, and more.

It’s a quick way to recap my loves of the moment or even updates from a previous Friday Favorites. For example, I’m updating you on my experience with a Vitamin C serum I mentioned last post.

I also don’t think I’ve ever been so ready for fall time than right now. This Texas heat is killing me and makes dressing very complicated. My go-to’s have been breezy dresses, sandals, and high ponytails (all of my thick-haired girls will understand).

I’m not ready for coats and boots weather yet, but I can’t wait to sit outside and enjoy a nice breeze without sweating through my dress. Any fellow Texans reading this and feel the same?

Now let’s get into what I have been obsessing over lately to help you find some new favorites too. Click here to view my other Friday Favorite blog posts.

Friday Favorites: What Have I Been Loving Lately?

Recent Books

I just finished a book by one of my favorite authors, B.A. Paris, called Bring Me Back. It is a slow start but picks up halfway through and the ending was incredibly unexpected. If you love twists and turns and psychological thrillers then you will enjoy reading B.A. Paris books.

If you’re interested in other thriller reads click here for a list of my favorite books.

Currently Listening To

I have been so nostalgic lately. I don’t know if it’s due to the state of the world recently or because I’m inching closer to 30 (where did the time go?), but I have been loving songs from my childhood. Here are a few I have on repeat lately:

Crush – Jennifer Paige

The Way You Love Me – Faith Hill

That Don’t Impress Me Much – Shania Twain

S Club Party – S Club 7

When the Lights Go Out – Five

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has been over-hyped the last few and the selection is not what it used to be, which is why I decided not to do a dedicated blog post. However, I STILL think it is worth shopping. If you’re looking for great basics for fall, beauty products, or athletic clothes then you’ll be happy to find these new-in season items on sale.

Each year I buy jeans, cashmere sweaters, and blazers in the sale. If you’re a Nordstrom cardholder you get to shop before the general public so even if you only use the card this one day a year it is worth it to get items before they quickly sell out.

Let me know if you’d like to see what I purchased from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

Favorite Skincare Product

In my last Friday Favorites blog post, I spoke about a new Vitamin C serum I was trying, and I wanted to update you on it after using the product for 1.5 months. I am loving the Obagi Professional-C 20% and have really noticed a difference in the brightness of my skin.

It is pricy but well worth the price tag as vitamin C is one of the most important ingredients you should incorporate in your skincare routine.

Home Decor

I don’t normally talk about home decor, but it’s secretly something I love. Follow me on Pinterest for home decor and fashion content. Since I will probably move into a new place at the end of this year I’ve been holding off on purchasing new decor, but I caved today and purchased a bedroom rug from Wayfair.

My theme is sage greens and soft blush pinks so I am excited to see how this green rug will look and it was only $130!

Favorite Netflix Show

Sex Education is my new favorite Netflix show. Before you stop reading and think what are you watching, I promise you it’s a well-done series that is much deeper than I expected. From the title, I had a lot of images in my mind of what the show was about, but I was wrong.

Each episode they delve into a character’s story and it starts with a problem that seems funny but throughout the episode, you realize the issue that you first laughed at has a much deeper meaning. It gets you thinking but in a comical way.

Sounds like I need to add some Vitamin C to my skincare routine. I’ve been seeing a lot of hype on the Nordstrom sale but I was feeling underwhelmed by the selection and even some of the prices.

Ok so happy it’s not just me! I think there are still some great basics, but not much more than that. Each year the items I love get smaller and smaller. I’ve also noticed that some items are on sale each year so you can even find something next year that you missed this year 🙂
