Friday Favorites #14: Favorite Fall Shoe, Affordable Skincare & More

Dallas fashion blogger shares her friday favorites from affordable skincare to latest fashion purchases

At this point in the year, I no longer know what day it is, but apparently it’s Friday and apparently it’s fall. Anyone else?

Today is the first day that it truly feels like fall in Texas so I’m having visions of styling tweed blazers, cozy sweaters dresses, and knee high boots. I’ve already been trying to find small ways to add fall vibes with my current looks from darker hues to moody florals.

What have I been up to?

Well, my life currently consists of eating out a lot as my kitchen has been completely demolished thanks to a dishwasher leak. Who knew water damage could be so detrimental?! At least, it’s a great opportunity to remodel, but soon I’ll have to move into a hotel for a bit while the work is being done.

Stay tuned on my Instagram stories for a behind-the-scenes look as I’m more active on that platform.

I haven’t done a Friday Favorites post in a while so I thought it was time to update you on what I’ve been loving lately. In this Friday Favorites I’m sharing new Netflix shows I’m watching, an affordable skincare brand I’m testing, my latest fashion purchase, and more.

Friday Favorites: What Have I Been Loving Lately?

Favorite Netflix Shows:

– Sister Sister – I’m reliving my childhood

– Insatiable – dark comedy that I binged in less than a week

– Emily in Paris – lighthearted and makes you miss travelling (see my review of Emily in Paris from an expat perspective)

What I’m Reading:

Before She Knew Him by Peter Swanson – a psychological thriller where a woman thinks her new neighbor might be the killer of his former student. You know can’t stop reading my psychological thrillers!

Skincare Obsession:

In my effort the last few months to stick to a budget and make better financial decisions I’ve been looking for affordable but effective skincare products. I’ve been testing out items from The Ordinary – a brand I’ve known about for the last few years but, to be honest, dismissed because I thought how could such affordable products work…I was being a product snob.

Continually this brand has stellar reviews and ranks highly in all of the “best of beauty” lists. I’m testing out their Hyaluronic Serum, Glycolic Acid Toner (this is stronger than my beloved Pixi Glow Tonic), and AHA + BHA Peeling Solution.

Latest Fashion Purchase:

Stuart Weitzman Slingback – This toe cap slingback is my favorite shoe come fall time because it makes anything look chic and is an incredibly close Chanel dupe. I found this shoe in black for an amazing deal. If you’re looking for a dupe of my dupe Express makes a very similar slingback that is on sale right now for $48!

Recently Discovered Brand:

I have fallen in love with Cuyana, a sustainable fashion brand that makes fashion basics look chic. I recently purchased this wool cardigan (which I still can’t wear in Texas, but maybe soon) as cardigans are making a resurgence this season. I have also been eyeing this silk cami to pair under the wool cardigan. If you love quality basics then you will love Cuyana!

I really enjoying listening to it on Audible, but I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea 🙂

The Ordinary is such a great skincare line! Their niacinamide is my all-time favorite!
