Last season I couldn’t stop raving about the plaid jacket. There are still really cool ways that you can incorporate this new closet staple into your Spring wardrobe and feel fresh. However, I think I have just discovered the hottest and most coveted jacket of 2018 -the safari jacket.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you have already seen me live in this piece and as the season continues I will only find more ways to style this versatile jacket. I was recently reading an article on Who What Wear about 2018’s version of the plaid jacket – the safari jacket and more specifically this Massimo Dutti version I’m wearing. In case you didn’t know Who What Wear is a great digital fashion resource if you enjoy reading about the latest trends and how you can recreate them.
Their article got me thinking about how truly versatile this Massimo Dutti safari jacket is, and how I have rarely gone a day without wearing it since I purchased it. It’s the perfect mid-Spring transitional piece. You know when it’s a bit too hot to wear all of the other jackets you own and a bit too cool to go without anything.
I love belting the jacket and rolling the sleeves for an effortless and casual vibe. However, when I want to feel really cool I pop the collar. If you want to keep the jacket open you can always tie the belt behind your back too. That is what I love about safari jackets – the versatility.
It’s Spring’s version of a trench coat, right?
You can easily style a safari jacket with jeans and tee (like what I did), a classic eyelet Spring dress, and even office-appropriate black slacks as an alternative to the traditional blazer.
I love finding versatile pieces that will work throughout my wardrobe, and I think we’ll only see more of the safari jacket as the season continues.
