Hello, my name is Cristina and I am a skincare addict.
I always have been and probably always will be. I love discovering new products and find my skincare routine kinda therapeutic. It’s the first step to get my day started and begins the process of winding down at night. Does anyone else feel this way?
For those who may not know, I have been suffering from hormonal acne the last two years which has definitely put a damper on my confidence without makeup. I had no idea adult acne was a thing, but through this experience, I found out it is actually much more common in your mid to late 20’s than I had ever expected.
After finally making the decision to invest in my skin and get my first facial, I have already seen a positive change in the number of breakouts, how long these breakouts last, and the moisture levels of my skin. I have been working with an aesthetician that took the time to create a simple skincare routine that actually works for my skin.
To check out the products I use on a daily basis continue reading below…
DAY
Cetaphil Facial Wash: You can’t go wrong with a simple face wash that is free from fragrance and a lot of harsh chemicals that strip your skin of its natural moisture. Since I do use some topical acne medications a face wash like this helps my skin from drying out.
Bioderma Sensibio Micellaire Water: I have used this religiously for 8 years. It was first used by makeup artists as a gentle makeup remover on set when models had to wear multiple makeup looks. I use this even on days when I am not wearing makeup to remove all of the excess dirt that my face wash didn’t quite remove.
Revision Soothing Facial Rinse: This is a gentle toner that contains Vitamin C (great for brightening), Vitamin E (very soothing), and Licorice and Lily (to exfoliate dead skin).
Clinique All About Eyes: I am not partial to any eye cream as I just use it for hydration. However, I always seem to go back to this Clinique one. The cream is rich so perfect for moisturizing and depuffing and this one is a decent price as far as department store products go.
Aknilox Gel 2%: This is a topical acne treatment that I believe is only available in Switzerland. However, I am sure you could find something comparable in your country if you speak to your dermatologist. It contains Erythromycin, which is used to treat cases of mild acne.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray: (Aloe, Cucumber & Green Tea) I recently spoke about how this spray is my holy grail airplane essential. It provides a boost of hydration while the green tea is a powerful antioxidant to protect your skin from free radicals.
Elta MD AM Therapy: This is my new favorite moisturizer. So much so that I purchased three backups because I couldn’t bear the thought of running out. It’s a lightweight formula that stimulates your skin cells to increase moisture absorption and retention. How cool!
NIGHT
Lubexyl Face Wash: I believe this product is only available in Europe, but essentially it is a light Benzyl Peroxide face wash. Since this is a harsher face wash I only use it once a day and hope to reduce the use over time.
Bioderma Sensibio Micellaire Water
Pixi Glow Tonic: This exfoliating toner is a cult classic and for a good reason. It helps to tone, firm and tighten the skin while removing dead skin cells for brighter-looking skin. Plus its alcohol free and you want an alcohol free toner.
Differin Gel (0.1%): This topical acne treatment contains an acne fighting retinoid called Adapalene. This product is available in various countries including the US. Retinoids are great for reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation, and increases cell turnover so good for acne.

BONUS (Not used daily)
- I previously posted about my favorite face masks for different skin concerns. It includes everything from acne to exfoliation, moisturization and more. I try to use a face mask twice a week.
- GloPro Microneedling Tool: I recently got into microneedling so it’s too soon for me to speak on the effects yet, but from what I have read it is an amazing tool. The microneedles help to trigger the skin’s natural healing process and helps your skincare products to sink into your skin so they work better.
- Neutrogena Light Therapy: I was lucky enough to have Neutrogena send this product to me to test out before it went on the market, but the good news is that this handy tool is finally available to purchase. It’s a portable acne treatment tool that uses blue and red light therapy to target acne-causing bacteria and fight inflammation. I only use this when I feel active spots appearing.
